How to read a recipe.

Learning how to read a recipe is arguably the most important thing you can learn as a new cook. It's not about just reading directions and gathering ingredients. Chef always asked us to write out the recipe in our own words in class so that we would have a better understanding of what was needed.

Confidence in the kitchen.

This was the reason I wanted to come to culinary school. In the beginning I took so many notes and always had my binder full of recipes out in class. At the end I simply watched the chef make things and knew that I could do what he was doing without writing everything down.

The importance of a good paring knife.

Everyone always talks about how important a good chef's knife is, but a good paring knife is also really essential in any kitchen. Until culinary school, I'm embarrassed to say, I didn't even own a paring knife. We used it in class all the time to cut and peel vegetables, trim out ugly spots on potatoes, and do any small work that a chef's knife simply couldn't.

The Punjab Board of Technical Education offers Diploma in Hotel Operations is designed for students who are primarily interested in the practical aspects of the hotel and catering industry. A combination of practical and theoretical subjects provides students with the best possible foundation for their future career. All students complete a 2 year PBTE Diploma in Hotel Operations which is equal to Intermediate level in Pakistan as accredit by Inter Board Committee of Chairman (IBCC), Government of Pakistan.

Hotels of many different sizes, standards and types, and catering for differing demands of guests exist in a country. The prosperity of any hotel requires considerable knowledge, experience and managerial skill. Every hotel comprises a number of departments performing different operations, which need skilful co-ordination to ensure satisfied guests. Course Overview

The Level 7 Executive Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management provides an industry relevant postgraduate academic progression route for those who want to build on their bachelor’s level qualification or improve their career progression.

It also provides an effective route for graduates in other fields who wish to make a career change into the growing hospitality and tourism industry. Given the broad and highly varied nature of the hospitality and tourism industry, candidates will need to demonstrate the higher-level skills and qualities specified in the Level 7 outcomes within a non-homogeneous vocational context.

Assessment involves investigative assignments, presentations and research activities. The assessment of candidates’ work is centre based, against the specified learning outcomes and directed by CTH.
